Adjective Marketplace This is a fun trading game that teaches students about "the comparison of adjectives" (i.e. good, better, best; pretty, prettier, prettiest; honest, more honest, most honest; etc.). I designed a complete set of cards to go with it. You may have to adjust the number of cards you use, depending on your class size.

Compound Words Competition Teach students how to build compound words in English. Teams compete to make the most words using color-coded cards. Even less-enthusiastic classes get into the spirit of this game.

Help Helping Verbs Help Themselves A challenging activity that combines group work, leadership skills, and practice using those tricky modal/auxiliary verbs (would, could, may, might, etc.). This activity is designed to keep the students on their toes, so they don't get discouraged by such a difficult topic. It's slow-going at first, but once they get the hang of it, it works quite well.
