That Billboard Music Awards 2023 kicks off on Sunday and celebrates all of the year’s biggest hits and most celebrated artists.
Going into Sunday’s big show, Taylor Swift continued his record year as a finalist in 20 categories, the most of any artist! She was already the most decorated female BBMA artist of all time with 29 wins, but if she manages to score five more at this year’s ceremony, she will surpass Drake as the winningest Billboard artist of all time.
However, Drake was also up for 14 awards herself this year, along with other top finalists such as Morgan Wallen, SZA, The Weeknd and newcomer Zach Bryan. There were also a number of first-time BBMA finalists including Bailey Zimmerman, Coi Leray, Fifty Fifty, Fuerza Regida, Grupo Frontera, Jelly Roll, Ice Spice, Metro Boomin, NewJeans, Peso Pluma and Oliver Anthony Music.
This year’s BBMAs also introduced nine new categories, including Top Hot 100 Songwriter and Top Hot 100 Producer — with Swift, Bryan and Jack Antonoff nominated for both — as well as Top Rock Duo/Group, Top Global K-Pop Artist, Top K-Pop Tour, Top K-Pop Album, Top Global K-Pop Song, Top Afrobeats Artist and Top Afrobeats Song.
