MONTEREY COUNTY, Calif. (KION-TV) – The County of Monterey has announced that they will be testing their new emergency alert system starting November 27th.
The province’s Department of Emergency Management said the testing will take place from Nov. 27 to Nov. 30 and on Dec. 7, 2023.
The tests start at 10am. The six targeted areas are The Moss Landing Harbor, California State University of Monterey Bay, areas of the city of Monterey and areas of the unincorporated communities of San Ardo, Carmel Valley and Pajaro.
Testing will take place in a variety of formats, including a reverse 9-1-1 with text messaging plus IPAWS Wireless Emergency Alerts (WEA) test/live test.
