David Harbor says his marriage to Lily Allen is “so amazing”.
The 48-year-old actor tied the knot with ‘Smile’ hitmaker Lily – who was originally married to Sam Cooper and has Ethel, 11, as well as 10-year-old Marnie – in 2020 and despite recent rumors that they had split, he has now insisted that he is doing well, although he joked that his wife will be happy that he will be able to return to work after the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike.
He told People: “It’s so amazing. In the end it’s very good because you get to know someone.
“But let me tell you, my wife likes it when I go to work because it’s nice for her to have her life and me to have mine and not just annoy each other by being around all the time! We have these two kids, and it’s so amazing. We get to raise them and stuff, and as our marriage goes on, we grow closer and closer.”
However, the ‘Stranger Things’ star went on to add that the Screen Actors Guild strike – which lasted 118 days – was over concerns over pay for actors and creators in the industry, AI technology and how profits from digital streaming on services such as Netflix and Disney+ can be shared before the union reached an agreement with AMPTP – likening the strike to how he felt during the COVID-19 lockdowns.
He added: “It’s like what happened to me in the same way in COVID, where you think to yourself like, ‘Oh, now, I’ve kind of had all this time.’ And then you’re just checking your Google alerts every five minutes and just being neurotically insecure.”
