GODFREY — Lewis and Clark Community College trustees voted Tuesday to approve three new IT roles for the college campus.

“Not only will these positions bring needed skills to the IT team, they will also relieve pressure from other IT positions so they can focus on their primary job duties,” L and C President Ken Trzaksa said at the college’s board meeting. “The findings of the latest IT and data assessment report recognized the need for these additional posts and the value they will provide.”

The new positions are:

Business analyst: This individual will be the primary liaison between the college’s business operations and information technology (IT). This position is responsible for analyzing business processes, identifying areas for improvement and making recommendations to improve business processes. This position will also develop technology training materials to support current and future business needs.

Data Analyst: Data-driven decisions are critical to the success of L and C’s mission. This capability is expanded with the addition of more dashboards, reports and institutional research initiatives. The data analyst will be responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the institution’s data architecture and data governance, which make data-driven decisions possible and sustainable.

Network technician: There is currently only one dedicated network and systems support position at the college. One position is not sufficient to handle supporting over 100 servers and a 5,000+ device network while supporting the implementation of new business technology systems. Because of this, the current Director of Campus Technology assists with network and systems support, which reduces their ability to plan and strategize the development of L and C’s use of data and technology. Additionally, with only one networking and support position, there is no one to fill this critical need when that person is out of the office.
