L&T Technology Services and NVIDIA unveil Gen AI and advanced software-defined architecture for medical devices

L&T Technology Services Limited (LTTS), a leading global engineering services company, has partnered with NVIDIA to introduce advanced software-defined architectures for medical devices, primarily focusing on endoscopy. This joint effort aims to increase the image quality and scalability of medical products, especially in medical imaging.

L&T Technology Services with NVIDIA is set to address industry challenges related to availability, cost and dependencies associated with custom and proprietary hardware components. The innovative architecture presented by this collaboration is scalable and supports multiple applications, providing a real-time decision-making tool for physicians. It has an extensive image processing pipeline that includes noise reduction, edge and contrast enhancement, texture and color enhancement, and speckle correction.

In particular, the architecture includes AI or ML models designed to detect, identify and classify polyps – abnormal growths often identified during colonoscopies. Its easy-to-use interface and seamless integration of image processing pipeline for visualization contribute to low-latency data transfer, superior image processing and scalability.

The collaboration leverages the capabilities of the NVIDIA Holoscan and NVIDIA IGX Orin platforms, which offer ultra-low latency in data transfer, superior image processing and scalability to support various AI-enabled applications. This integration aims to improve visualization for image processing and AI-based decision support, especially in tasks such as polyp detection and classification.

“The combination of LTTS’ expertise in medical device development and NVIDIA’s full-stack edge AI computing platform delivers unprecedented value to the medical technology industry by accelerating the development of AI-enabled, software-defined medical devices,” said Shanker Trivedi, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Business, NVIDIA.
