SAN FRANCISCO – Morpheus Space is releasing Journey, a space mobility software program, this week at the Space Tech Expo Europe in Bremen, Germany.
“This is a very important milestone for the company as this is our first software on the market,” said Daniel Bock, CEO and co-founder of Morpheus Space. Space News. “We also believe this will be a major milestone for the space industry as we enable a new way to design, simulate and execute satellite missions.”
Founded in Germany in 2018, Morpheus Space initially focused on the production of miniature electric thrusters. In recent years, the company has expanded its presence in the US and broadened its business scope.
“We are seeing the beginning of a massive shift in how the space industry will use space mobility, ranging from transferring from one orbit to another, maintaining stations and ultimately deorbiting,” Bock said. “The journey begins in the early stages of mission design. Before you launch anything into space, it helps you determine what the satellite looks like, what orbits it should be in, how many satellites you need to launch, and so on.”
Journey is also designed to help customers determine which propulsion systems meet their needs, including Morpheus Space propulsion.
Engineers spent approximately two years developing the Journey platform to guide customers through every step of mission planning, from early designs to satellite and subcomponent procurement through mission operations.
“Our team has radically simplified the satellite mission design and analysis process by connecting advanced engineering models with a seamless user interface,” said Bock. “The overall goal is to make space more accessible by lowering barriers to entry, but also to make it safer to operate in space.”
Journey is designed to appeal to NewSpace companies and industry veterans.
“In principle, this applies to any company that plans to send something into space or operate in space,” Bock said.
