Next Tech ensures that your old technology is disposed of safely

In recognition of America Recycles Day, a technology disposal group is making sure your old technology is safely disposed of! A group called Next Tech offered a drop-off point on Renaissance Wednesday where people could dispose of e-waste. Director of Business Development Beth Zito says they offer drop-offs every once in a while because e-waste can contain personal data on old laptops or, if not disposed of properly, can become a hazard to the environment. “We have things that go back to when I was programming at school, which is a really long time ago. So it’s fun to see some of the dinosaurs that they’re bringing in,” Zito said. “So they’re bringing in stuff that’s literally been in their attic for decades and as well as newer devices, you know, within the last many years. . The technology is evolving so fast that it’s like a wave coming at us and it’s playing so fast that there’s just nothing to do with it for them,” Zito said. Some of the things we saw being handed in were old printers, fax machines, televisions and monitors. A company truck was on site to remove these items at no charge.
