YG Entertainment and BLACKPINK renew their contract as ‘non-exclusive’?
There has been a lot of curiosity about it BLACK ROSE SAID‘s affiliation with YG Entertainment. The popular girl band was supposed to renew their contract, but there has been no official work on it yet.
Recent buzz suggests that the agency has signed up the group for a non-exclusive contract. According to a Munhwa Ilbo, BLACKPINK has decided to renew their contracts with YG Entertainment, which are non-exclusive. Therefore, they will continue their group activities with the agency, but they are free to join their individual campaigns with others. It was also reported that two of BLACKPINK members have moved on and entered into this deal with YG Entertainment.
YG Entertainment maintained ambiguity about the deal, responding to this report, stating, “We are still in discussions. Nothing has been decided yet.” Commenting on the exclusive contracts, Sports Chosun quoted YG Entertainment’s statement, “We are negotiating with the artists for their exclusive contracts. The final outcome will be revealed through the document regarding major management issues related to investments.” BLACKPINK recently finished their major world tour, BORN PINK, and along with that, their contract with YG Entertainment also ended.
In the midst of this contract controversy, Jennie from BLACKPINK hit the headlines after it was revealed that she has trademarked her name, ‘Jennie Ruby Jane‘. She took this step earlier this year and registered her name with the Intellectual Property Rights of Korea. The popular idol has registered it in ten different categories.
